Double-Goal Coach® Awards

Thanks for your interest in the Double-Goal Coach® Awards, presented by Liberty Mutual.

The Positive Coaching Alliance Double-Goal Coach Awards, presented by Liberty Mutual, honor coaches whose first goal is winning, and whose second, more important goal is teaching life lessons through sports. Learn more.

The Award Selection Committee, composed of elite Double-Goal Coaches who exemplify the Positive Coach Mental Model, have announced the winners from all of the nominations received by November 30, 2009.  Of the 50 award finalists, 20 winners were selected and are recognized below.

Positive Coaching Alliance is committed to making a new mental model of coaching the “industry standard” for youth sports. The Double-Goal Coach model is intended to replace the “win-at-all-cost” model prevalent in youth sports today. A Double-Goal Coach:

  1. Redefines “Winner,”
  2. Honors the Game and
  3. Fills Players’ Emotional Tanks.

Double-Goal Coaches want to win (goal #1) but have a second, more important goal – to help players develop positive character traits that will help them be successful in life (goal #"2").

Promoting this model and honoring coaches who exemplify its vision in their programs is the essence of the Double-Goal Coach Awards, presented by Liberty Mutual. This annual award recognizes coaches from throughout the United States, whose actions and programs not only teach players athletic skills but also help them develop skills that will serve them well throughout their lifetimes.
