Responsible Sports™ Community Grant Toolkit
At Liberty Mutual, we realize that everyone could use a little help in being prepared for their future. We have developed this toolkit as a way for you and your youth sports organization to maximize your chances of earning some much-needed funding to help curb the costs of running a successful sports program.
This toolkit contains some promotional materials and suggestions on how to promote the Community Grant opportunity to members and supporters of your youth sports organization.
- NEW Community Grant Fliers - download, customize, print and distribute!
- Suggested "Best Practices" - which gives ideas that have been leveraged by past grant recipients.
- A Get-the-word-out Newsletter Story - for inclusion in your organization's newsletter.
- Press Release - to edit and submit to your local newspaper.
- Web Banners - for your organization, team, league, or school website.
Community Grant Fliers
Ask local businesses to post the full-color flier/poster to gather support of your grant efforts throughout your entire community. Use the black and white flier to pass out at practices, games, tournaments, booster club or PTA meetings, pep rallies, parades, community festivals (you get the idea!) as an effective reminder to take the quiz and credit
your organization. Get started by picking your flier version:
Spread The Word
Once the grant period opens, you'll
have access to the Responsible Sports "Spread the Word" email tool to
get the word out about the race for the grants to members and
supporters of your youth sports organization.
Spread the Word will be available 3/1.
Suggested "Best Practices"
Past recipients of a $2,500 Community Grant didn't accomplish the feat by simply wishing they would earn one. They combined their communication tools along with ours and got the word out to as many parents, coaches, administrators, and supporters as possible. Below is a brief list of what has been done to promote the grant in the past:
- Newsletter Inclusion
Include the Responsible Sports Community Grant messaging in outgoing monthly and weekly newsletters (whether emailed, printed, or posted on your website).
- Registration Requirement
Administrators: Consider requiring parents and coaches to complete the Responsible Sport Parenting or Responsible Coaching coursework. The PDF certificates can be emailed or printed to coordinate with your registration process.
- Simply Send an Email
It's surprising how easy it is to gather support! Send a simple email to all members of your youth sports organization with a link to the Responsible Sport Parenting and Coaching coursework. Don't forget to include family, friends, and community supporters! Be sure to include your organization name that is registered with Responsible Sports (search to find yours). Or better yet, login (Participants or Administrators) and we'll customize and send the spread the word email to your list.
- Host a Community Grant party!
Not everyone has access to a computer. Have a get-together at a location that has a computer and online access. Invite members and supporters of your organization to take 5-10 minutes to complete the quiz and credit their certification to your organization. Order some pizza too!
- Online Promotion
Below are various sizes and designs of web banners to put on your website, take a look.
